What you choose to do each week is all a matter of priorities, and for me, I hold my weekends as a reward for staying disciplined with my training and macros Monday to Friday. This approach works for my physique goals, as its better to hit your training and nutrition at 80% all year, than at 100% until you burn out, stuff up, or go on holidays and feel like you’ve “ruined it” so give up. Week on week, while enjoying foods I love and good times with the people I love, I continue to make progress. It isn’t about looking back at each day and seeing progress, it’s about looking back each week, each month and seeing the results of my balanced and consistent lifestyle. I need to be real with myself, I train to look and feel good, and part of feeling good is having a life, and sharing it with those that matter to me. That simply is not possible only within the walls of a gym or with a scale underneath every plate of food. Realistic goal setting, prioritisation and sustainability are absolutely essential to ANY physique goal…because if we can’t maintain it without mental stress and restriction what is the point?
