@sa.in.blackandwhite: TRANSKEI INDEPENDENCE BACKGROUNDER
On October 26th, 1976 the red, white and green flag of
the Transkei will be unfurled at Umtata and the fiftieth,
independent black African state will be born. But the
new nation will go almost totally unrecognised. For
the Transkei is the first of eight black homelands to
gain independence under South Africa's policy of
separate racial development. Its critics claim that its
independence is spurious, that its economy and
politics will continue to be dominated by Pretoria.
Already the UN and OAU have offically refused to
grant it membership. This programme examines the
controversy and looks at the new state.
This is the 1st time seeing something ebalulekileyo kanje on social media. I’m 35 born in Mthatha, ndiyayiqala le. 🤝🙏🏻

The worst thing that happened to Transkei and Mthatha was ANC.

Then the anc came and stole it all. Transkei could have been a world class country. All with the help of the minority whose intentions were good, using their income tax to help.

This was the best freedom we actually have had, education, university of transkei, free education, soldiers employed, teachers were produced, blacks got business without paying a cents, airport, etc.

Mathanzima almost pulled it off. I wonder why he never received a noble peace prize for advocating for all races to live together peacefully.

Why did the ANC government failed to do exactly this after 1994, to develop underdeveloped black areas in the rural areas. Transkei is worse off now. What a disgrace 😂

So Transkie's economy was strong on Tea and Textile industry. What's so difficult now to ANC in reviving the textile industry because the tea and pineapple industries are doing well.

I doubt that Matanzima was a puppet as some made us to believe, however his was just never a national agenda. Those with presumably national agenda to unite all South Africa have downright failed us😩

Our fathers do not have a good story to tell about Matanzima. This documentary focuses only on the goods of Matanzima not the bad things.
