If the pin is replaced by a much harder steel. You could be in danger of the pin not wearing any more, but now the draw bar wearing quickly and therefore, having to replace the draw bar sooner

Couldn't you just harden it, get it red hot toss in some used oil and save some coin? I'm probably wrong but kind of makes sense.

bull dozer track chain pins make good pins , they are usually case hardened and usually stay round for a long time.

If you have some old axle shafts out of your big rigs or one ton trucks they will last for years that’s what we used to do

U can find 4140 pretty easily, not that expensive and will wear quite a bit better than mild steel

the back side of draw bar where it hangs between the 2 pins is most your problem build up plate and make tight to both swing pins it helps take out alot of pin play

I would think some 4140 annealed would be better than mild steel , it’s what we use when ppl show up with busted pivot pins etc

Oh another good one if you have a bone yard of wrecked equipment is the pto shafts from old tractors we only had one but it lasted about 25 years
