Tesco made £1.6 Billion in Operating profit in their latest accounts. I think it's pure greed from supermarkets by putting their prices up. There is no need for it & is a factor on Shoplifting

Tbf these big supermarkets sacking loads and putting in self scanners to line their own pockets more, karma! Now they have to shell out more for security guards(proper ones & not just some uncle ) 👍

I’m a Student in Newcastle and about 1 out of 3 times I get a Greggs someone comes in and takes whatever they want but they’re mostly homeless not gangs

We have seen how decriminalising thefts below a set value has caused retail crime escalation in the U.S. so we do exactly the same 🤦♂️

For me. I am finding High Street shopping awful because Security Guards are very intimidating. They intimidate the innocent and do nothing when someone actually steals.

They’ve introduced new cashless supermarkets that require debit cards to gain access to the store. Aldi has already started rolling out these new stores. This prevents shoplifting. No card no entry.

Calling the Police for Shoplifting is a 101 call. If you get the shoplifter to act aggressively or swear then it’s a 999 call. Difference is around 48hours….seriously!!

Requiring id ,member card , or card / cash deposit before anyone steps into the shop. or focus on online groceries where people pay before receiving anything
