Unpopular opinion ⬆️ Coming from a bodybuilding background and winning my second show— all you do is constantly lift heavy and beat your body up, I realized I was doing it for vanity, pride and from a place of anger & resentment. Yes I built a strong aesthetically pleasing physique, one that I’m grateful for… but at the expense of my mental health and joint dysfunction. Many won’t tell you, but ALL bodybuilders & bikini competitors suffer from either back, knee, joint pain. And are constantly chasing something that won’t satisfy their soul. Willing to sacrifice everything they have (including their purpose) for their image. I know because I been there. One of the things the Lord has me working on is my health. “Why are we exercising?” “What is the purpose behind every workout?” “Is it to impress others?” “Or is it just for looks?” Diving deeper into functional strength training has taken the pressure of perfection off my shoulders and switch my mindset from “self-image” to “health”. And it has me addressing my weaker points that once were neglected. I feel more beautiful than I ever did before, stronger, wiser and at peace with myself!
