My mom believed in this kind of discipline. I don’t speak to her as an adult. 💀

Hi - I have an 19 month old boy - 3rd boy siblings are 13 and 10. He is so defiant and literally shouts at other children if they are near him at soft play etc even if they are juts passing him, he’s really handsy and hits others but not all the time. Also throws and juts generally doesn’t listen - single mum really overwhelmed and massive anxiety taking him out as I feel like I have ‘ that child’ everyone dreads - where do I start ? Thank you so so much

Kids that young need to be taught how to regulate their emotions and they do that through co-regulation with a regulated caregiver. Additionally, by teaching them how to talk about their feelings (1)

Corrective action during tantrums and then follow up with discussion to promote empathy and self control. They don’t have to be separate ideas.

If they are throwing things, how do you remove the fun when they kinda already separated themselves from the object by throwing it? How do you correct this behavior?

I don’t agree with this. My son is so emotionally intelligent because I talk about his feelings with him, whilst backing it up with actions. Both can happen at the same time

What's everyone's take on picking up early from Kinder bc of crying? Would you get your kid or have them stay the whole day?

I think the mini therapy sessions stem from people not feeling heard as a kid.

Ugh yes. Every time I see people recommending talking things through for a 2yo - I’m thinking, they don’t even understand a word you’re saying 😂 They do understand cause and effect

my son often hits or kicks us when we’re laying together doing bedtime, what would you suggest then? Because there’s not technically any “fun” to remove from the situation

Okay so what if your parents never stopped and now you’re an adult and can’t talk about your feelings bc your parents acted like everything was back to normal after getting mad at you 😅😭

What if after you correct them they immediately do something else they know theyre not supposed to do and its a domino effect?

My daughter is 4 now. She is extremely well behaved but still has her moments. I tell her a short quick why she’s in trouble and she has to go find something else to do or “go take a breather”
