That salad looks GOOD!!! When it asks for baking powder but you only have soda, you need to add lemon juice or vinegar to it.

So the difference between baking soda and baking powder is a bit more than what you stated. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate and releases carbon dioxide gas in the presence of both moisture and acid.

Baking powder has the power, baking soda needs something sour. Not sure where I first heard this but that’s how I remember it.
