Stop and Salute the Flag is a monthly flag-raising ceremony at Rizal Park, Luneta, organized by the National Parks Development Committee and the Salute to a Clean Flag Movement. This September, we celebrated National Maritime and Reservist Month, standing beneath the largest flag in the country, at the site where our National Hero is memorialized—a truly unforgettable experience. Joined by LCDR May Glicell A. Lagang PN, fellow Naval Reserve Public Affairs Unit reservists Joi and Jaj Apangan, Sparkle artist Bella Thompson, Dr. Cherry Ann Co, and other branches of service including the coast guard, seafarers, police, and uniformed personnel, we paid tribute to those who serve our nation. The event honored the dedication of maritime officers, personnel, and reservists for their vital contributions to our country’s strength and security. I had the honor of reciting the poem Pagpupugay sa Busilak na Bandila by Divine Gil Reyes—an ode to our national flag and those who defend it. Former Secretary of Defense Delfin Lorenzana served as guest speaker, while Mr. Joseph Francia, GMA International First Vice President, lent his support to the event. One of the highlights was an inspiring speech by Monique Pronove, founder of this movement. Her words left such an impact that I requested a signed copy—a keepsake I will treasure. Proudly sponsored by GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV, this event was a heartfelt tribute to our nation’s silent guardians. A snappy salute to all our seafarers, reservists, and those who selflessly serve our country. Today, and throughout this month, we honor their unwavering dedication and sacrifice.
