cover letter writing or creative writing? same thing hehe. do you think it’s okay to embellish your resume / cover letter when you’re applying for a job? if corporate companies can present grey cubicles and instant coffee as a “fun working environment” and “supportive company culture”, then let me present myself as Greta Thunberg, Eurovision winner 😅 companies bend the truth and boast meaningful missions or “family culture” when there’s none. on top of that, entry-level jobs often require experience that’s impossible to get without an entry-level role, making it difficult for applicants. businesses are primarily driven by survival, not “a mission”. otherwise they will not exist. similarly, you need a job to have food and a roof above your head. I’m not telling you to lie, but in this system…the applicant and the company will always play a part in this intricate dance of truths and half-truths in other words: the applicant often “lies” to the company about their skills (to secure the job) and the company “lies” to the applicant about the nature of the work and responsibilities, workload and company culture (to get the best talent) so long as both keep up the facade and do the work diligently and to the best of their ability, the dance will go on. and oftentimes, you actually do not need the skills that they company is requiring of you, and people get away with it. so what is the answer? I cannot answer this for you and you need to decide, but hope you had fun reading this advice and found it useful, good-luck in job search ❤️ #recruiter #linkedin #jobs #comedy 🎥: @Vince Lam
