I would’ve liked to use this video for my students however due to be inappropriate and unprofessional language, I can’t !

approach the conversation as "education". know who has the right to know. if it escalates, get a second nurse or management

It’s super hard. If you have role models, hit them up. If management is trash and don’t have your back? It’s toxic and you have to reassess the workplace.

Not only do they sense weakness, they sense confidence and like to try and see how far they can get with you. Then if they can’t get anywhere with you, they report you. Such is life as a nurse 🙄

I feel it’s more about how you say things. I’m calm but assertive.

as a social worker get a lot of complaints about staff. I usually say "i understand your frustration, what is it that I can relay to the medical team" then go back and tell them who i spoke to.

You have to be assertive but you can also try to compromise if able. I tell them what the patient needs and what for and I'm not here to cater to all the family. 1

And sometimes when you’re confident and you give them the answers that they asked for, but not necessarily want to hear they also get upset because you’re confident and they want to take you down a few pegs
