@nepalesemonarchist: In 1990, a pro-democracy movement called the Jana Andolan (People's Movement) took place in Nepal. It was initiated by the Nepali Congress and the United Left Front, who opposed the existing monarchy. The movement involved widespread protests, strikes, and clashes with police, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries. Despite government crackdowns and arrests, the protests intensified, eventually reaching Kathmandu. Facing immense pressure, King Birendra lifted the ban on political parties in April 1990. This led to the drafting and implementation of a new constitution in November 1990, which transferred governmental power from the monarchy to the people, establishing a multiparty democracy. The process of creating the constitution was challenging due to the gap between the elite and the largely illiterate and ethnically diverse general population. Krishna Prasad Bhattrai became the Prime Minister & the governemnt of Bhattrai had responsibility to make the draft of Constitution.
