One of my friends cleans hoarder homes, as part of her work. It’s hard for her to see how bad it is for them. By the time she comes involved, they’ve already been in therapy and are trying to change.

Years ago I tried to help a friend with hoarding disorder to clean and declutter her flat but it was impossible as she was so attached to everything, she had train tickets from nearly a decade earlier

Yes I can imagine for a lot of people who have messy homes but aren't hoarders they WANT to get rid of everything but don't know how/it overwhelms them

My roommate is a hoarder when she’s not around I just look through her stuff and throw away all the unnecessary things from years back in small portions and I don’t tell her I threw them away
