@bunkershillfarmhorses: Tiktok equestrians and young horses - my opinion! Drop in the comments and let me know what you think? Should i be aiming to ‘put my stamp’ on my horses? Honestly I think young horses are more likely to put a stamp on their rider 🤣😭

I like to back my own to avoid other people’s problems. Peoples problems usually caused by desperately trying to “stamp” their horses! Xx

You’re 100% right. People saying that are showing their lack of experience. Buying an unbroken is an experience but you can end up with a horse that doesn’t suit you at all.

I got a young horse because of budget. I love the bond I am developing with her! I’ll learn to ride her (when she’s old enough) what works best for her!

For me, it's not about the riding side of things. It's about creating a bond from a young age, building up those good habits on the ground, knowing the background of the horse and being able to make everything a positive learning experience from the start x

100% agree! A great rider will adapt to the horse a poor rider will try to make the horse adapt to them! ❤️

I have a friend that constantly gets young horses for this reason and then ends up selling them because they don't end up being the horse she wanted.

Every horse I’ve sat on has taught me something new and each has left a stamp on my riding. All we do is (hopefully) give them the tools do deal with life!

Every time someone tells me they are putting their stamp on a horse I wonder where they are mailing it to? 🤣

Just gave myself this lecture this morning. No good trying to fit a triangle into a circle, you need to meet them where they are.

I just bought a rising 4yo, not so I can "put my stamp on her" but so that I can always understand how she was started and build a relationship from day 1. Yes I have my own methods but they also have

And then they get rid of these horses as they are ‘too much for them’ then someone else has to undo this so called ‘stamp!’🙄

Love this. While I often “want” to ride one of my favourites during a lesson I always appreciate when the coach has me ride a different horse, especially one that’s opposite of my riding style.

my youngster has definitely taught me more than I have taught her. She's 10 this year and she's now holding my hand and teaching me things I've never done while doing things she's never done 🧡
