english translation: imam al shafii' said: " knowledge is 4 quarters, when the person enters the first quarter he will say that he is the most knowledgeable of people, and even in normal worldly matters people think they r the most knowledgeable when they start their studies, then when he enters the 2nd quarter, he will realise that he has missed some knowledge like doesn't know much, then when he enters the third quarter he will realise that he has more knowledge to learn than what he has learnt in a whole, (or in other words he has missed more knowledge than he has learnt), then when he enters the fourth quarter the person will say, I am the most ignorant of people, (meaning they will humble themself), due to what he has seen from the depth of knowledge."
