At the age of 17, having finished his higher studies, he discovered his religious vocation. He asked for advice from Saint John the Baptist Mary Vianney, who announced difficulties in fulfilling his vocation. She rejected the marriage that her parents imposed on her and found herself increasingly compromised by the successive deaths of her four brothers. Despite his difficulties, he dedicated himself to works of charity and to the spread of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She entrusted herself to the direction of the Jesuit Jean Calage, and took a vow of perpetual virginity. Through various interior revelations of Christ he discovered that his vocation was: to make his life an immolation linked to the immolation of Jesus in the Eucharist. Jesus desires a work: the adoration of the Holy Trinity through his Eucharistic Heart. Everyone can belong to this work of immolation, united to Mary as a model. She founded the Congregation of the Daughters of the Heart of Jesus in Belgium in 1873, at the request of Monsignor Van der Berger and his spiritual director. A contemplative work was born under the rule of Saint Ignatius but with the cloister variant. She offered her life to Pope Leo XIII for his intentions, and it was accepted. She was murdered by the convent's gardener, out of hatred for religion, in Servianne (Marseille). Before dying he said:
