Floor layer here, if you want to go over the tiles you need to scratch them up, prime it and do self floor levelling then you can lay what you want on top, I don’t recommend hybrid cause it’s just shit, glue down vinyl planks are the way to go

I ripped up a whole house full of tiles except the bedrooms…. NEVER AGAIN. I would highly recommend either painting them or laying over the top

smashed all my tiles up, then ripped all the vinyl under it off, then scrapped all the glue, was a pain but worth it, dont do it over the top! do it right the first time you wont regret it

Tiling over tiles is great if you know you never want to change it again because it is a nightmare to remove if you do 😅 only thing is it does add a bit more height to the floor than most people expect so you’ll need a good lip into the the space from any other flooring type which I was fine with for the bathroom we did that in, but really not sure how I’d like that for living space/hallway transitions

10/10 do not recommend ripping up tiles. I did mine 6 weeks ago and I’m still cleaning up the dust and stepping on splinters.
