The US helped build the Panama Canal in 1903 under Teddy Roosevelt for $350 million (15 billion in today usd) and kept control of the area until Jimmy Carter signed a treaty in 1977 giving the canal back to Panama for literally $1, the treaty stated that the canal would be a neutral zone for all countries and every boat would be charged fairly... Now current day Chinese owned companies operate on both sides of the canal and the CCP is building multiple bridges over the canal and even a metro underneath the Canal. Marco Rubio met with the president of El Salvador to discuss the issue and the president agreed to not renew the contract they have with China in 2 years. A lot can change in 2 years and we'll see if Panama keeps their word. What would you like to see happen?
