Algae growth on seedling is fairly common especially when peat or coir is used as a growing medium. A few spots here and there isn’t something you need to worry about. But it can lead to issues when they continue to spread. Algae can easily form on soil mediums that are too wet, too humid with no air flow and light is too bright. If your seedlings are big enough, you can easily just transplant or up pot. If not, simply scrape off algae. Then to prevent it from happening again, adjust your lighting height, remove excess water and add a fan for air circulation. Some say that cinnamon also stops algae from growing due to its antifungal properties. I don’t know if this is true so I’m trying it out, but only on 1 seedling and a couple of unsprouted cells. I’ll keep you posted to see if it really stops algae from coming back again. The great news is that algae formation can easily be removed and controlled. #gardentok #gardening #fy
