i have pretty severe hearing loss in both ears, from birth, and passed all my newborn screens! its genetic as well as i have deaf family members so def bear that in mind :)

My hospital did AABR for both of my kids with no history of hearing loss! That’s so interesting

I am deaf & verbal, and they did this with all 3 of my kids. My oldest, who is disabled & nonverbal, had several AABR tests. He failed his last one at age of 14 yrs. My other 2 are hearing & verbal.

odd, i told the tester that i am deaf and they didnt really do any additional testing. wonder if i should follow up on that even though my little one showed as hearing on the original test

i always wondered how they do this. I'm hoh along with my daughter. when they did her newborn test they just clicked their finger's and called it a pass. found out at 4 she is hoh.

Both my kids only had the second test the only time they did the other one was when my youngest had to have tubes.

Most babies don’t pass their first time when they do this test but usually the second time that they do it they generally pass that’s what happened my daughter. They said that she failed in one of her ears and then we went back like I think two weeks later and she was fine.
