I researched this the other day. The tatau originates in Samoa. The conjoined sister's Taema & Tilafaiga the daughters of Ulufanuasese'e youngest brother of Saveasiuleo who resided mostly in the ocean hence the belief they swam from Fiji, they never left Samoa. This is not true tatau came from Fiji.... Big story not enough time to write but the those names are clues... There is no written history so very hard to get info if you are not in Samoa..
