Let’s talk about the difference between “tired” and “fulfilled”! 👇 Way too often online, we see the same old blanket advice for problems like excessive barking, destroying the house, chasing the cat… “Take your dog on more walks! Take your dog running! Play more fetch!” Aka, try to exhaust the hell out of them and you won’t have any issues. Yes, physical fulfilment that is appropriate to your dog is critical for their mental and physical well-being. However, it’s not as simple as more exercise equals better behaviour. Just like I wouldn’t tell my best friend to fix every personal challenge through more running, I don’t take that approach with Winnie either! Exercise it’s a health baseline, but not behavioural solution, and temporary exhaustion is nothing more than a bandaid fix (if it even works in the first place). To truly address and satisfy a dog’s mental, emotional AND physical needs, engaging play and training is key. Just 10 minutes of focused training, fetch, tug, or herding games with our Active Rings leaves Winnie significantly more calm, content, and relaxed, and most importantly - satisfied, than any run we’ve ever done! And the best part is, it takes WAY less time, and you can teach your dog so many broader concepts during interactive play - impulse-control, problem-solving, coordination, confidence, emotion regulation, value in handler - just to name a few! Straight-up physical exercise without a strong mental element, can sometimes lead to increased anxiety, restlessness, or hyperactivity rather than calming them down. This is especially true for high-energy breeds. Rather than creating an insatiable athlete, my goal is to nurture a well-rounded dog whose physical needs are met, who can ALSO make good decisions that don’t depend on being physically exhausted. What activities tires your dog out the most? 💬 Get 10% off our Active Rings by signing up to our mailing list (limited stock) 💙 thank you so much for supporting our small business @APAWLO Pets, SUPER exciting things coming - especially for our US customers! 👀 #activering #activedogtoy #highenergydog #apawlopets #australiancattledog #dogtoy
