I was with a narcissist for 12 years, I used to hate when he was amazing around other people but a completely different person behind closed doors. He would do anything for any stranger but not for his family.

My mother helps at brownies ,cubs and the local church yet in 7 years has never spent an hour alone with her granddaughters . Held me accountable for every birthday present as a child !

My brother went as a "helper'' at an event for the special Olympics- But when I called him out for not knowing where his OWN sister lives- She has special needs and is in residential care all her adult life!! I was the problem 😅

Nailed it. My dad would do ridiculous, over-the-top gestures for strangers/acquaintances but treated his wife and kids horribly. We were just props to him.

my dad was like this, playing the martyr because my mum was ill. but in the end her really prolonged her suffering just so he could play the devoted husband but really he didn't care.

YES! My ex fiancé wanted to invite a tonne of random old men from the pub to our wedding, but didn’t want to invite my cousins as he “barely knows them” . 🙄😡 wedding didn’t go ahead thankfully!
