If you're going to carry something that needs you to put your back in it, straighten your back. Otherwise you're fine

Heavy things lift with legs. Lighter things are ok to bend for. Small things I grab with my feet

My spine is not healthy. I’ve got hit by four different vehicles in my life if I try to arch my back and lift something I’m going to be on the ground screaming and pain for five minutes.

It’s mostly about not lifting with your back when you’re lifting heavy stuff, so just don’t pick up like an 80 pound item with your back

you can even deadlift with a rounded back, but if you’ve only trained straight back, don’t suddenly round your back when you are maxing out. You have to train up to that like you did with straight bac
