Grow Jumbo Garlic, what you need to know! When to Plant: Plant your garlic at any point over the course of October-November. Earlier for cooler zones, later for warmer zones. Spot in Garden: Garlic thrives in a high-sun environment, and can be companion planted with Tomatoes and Basil. Soil Prep: Garlic loves a loose and fertile environment. If planting into an existing bed, add 1-2" of compost to rejuvenate the soil. If establishing a new bed, use 75% Compost, 25% Vermiculite. Spacing: Space the Garlic Cloves at 6" Spacing for the biggest heads. For more volume, you can absolutely do 6" Off-Centre Spacing Depth: Dig down a 4" hole, nice and deep so they are insulated by the soil above. Planting: Sprinkle 1/2 a handful of worm castings into every hole before planting the Garlic Clove. Once the Garlic cloves are in, simply backfill with the surrounding soil. Mulch: Lastly, put down 4-6" of leaves that have recently fallen from the trees. This will provide more insulation and allow the microbes to keep working in the soil. Spring: Come Spring, once they begin to poke through the surface, remove the leaf mulch and apply 1Tbsp of the 444 Superfood per square foot, and then add 1-2" of Compost. This provides all the nutrients, microbes, and insulation needed for Spring growth! . . . #gardening101 #gardentok #gardeningtips #gardening #garlic #growfood #LearnOnTikTok
Trying to be creative with how we grow our food for to coming winter months. Our garage tent hydroponic garden is growing fast and in just a couple of weeks the plants have grown so much. I we grow in this space, we continue to learn and improve. It’s never too late to learn something new, if you’ve never grown food indoors, I can tell you that it’s all possible. Pick up a set of grow lights because it will make it alot easier. . . . . #gardentok #LearnOnTikTok #gardening #indoorgarden #growfood #hydroponics #vegetables #gardeningproject #sponsored
