Donut wanted to say Happy New Year because it’s his first year on this planet and he won’t really tell me which other planets he’s lived on before this one, but I get the sense it’s like in his top five favorite planets. I get a little defensive, because I love Earth, and it’s all I’ve ever known, but I guess if I’m being practical it’s definitely possible there are some other planets way out there somewhere that have us beat. Maybe they figured out all the things we haven’t figured out yet. I mean, I’m still waiting for hoverboards. Remember when they did invent hoverboards but they were like, “oh these hoverboards touch the ground with wheels”. Listen, you can call it whatever you want my friend, but in my book? A hoverboard HOVERS above the ground like magic. Anything bound enough by the law of gravity that some part of it touches the ground, ESPECIALLY a wheel of any sort, is not doing any real hovering. BELIEVE me, I have stood nearby enough conversations that I am not a part of, I KNOW what a hover is. Anyway, Donut says it’s less about the hoverboards and more about the ways some of those planet people treat each other, but I feel like hoverboards still might just put a thumb down on the scale for another planet. IF YOU ASK ME. Which you didn’t. But IF YOU ASKED ME, hey there are two planets, mostly the same but one has hoverboards and hoverboard adjacent technology, I might rate the H.A.T. planet above the other. Donut has completely left the conversation. But I do get a sense from the way he makes me feel that he knows something about how to treat each other. Maybe there’s a lot more nuzzling on some other planet? I’ll get it out of him eventually. Right now I’m just still impressed he can talk like a regular human man person. Not out loud necessarily, but still, another thing to be very proud of my son over. Ok goodnight app, goodnight me, goodnight planet with H.A.T., goodnight cat, and goodnight year, goodnight people who can’t drink beer. 🌙
