you can lift heavy but not straight away, its called progressive overload where you slowly increase weight over time to build strength and muscle, muscle endurance is light weight with high reps. If you have been lifting heavy in the past then you can continue but if your just starting weight training at a later age then what she suggests is great. I dont get much pain because my body has adapted to lifting heavy for some years. 💪

Im 57 and you are correct. I do more sets lower weight. The heavy weight is not necessary. I have similar results.

Heavy is specific to each person. Stop when you have 2 reps in left reserve. DOM pain is normal joint pain you may be pushing too hard.

I’m 55 lift heavy and clean 3-4 houses a day. Pain free,lots of stretching in between sets.Hang upside down 10minutes before training and I train 6 days a week.I take natural products for menopause.
