Sbux makes us do that so baristas can’t tip themselves / customers can’t lie and say the barista added a tip. Just hit no thank you if you don’t want to tip

I feel awkward bc the system. I usually say “it’s totally optional to tip” then give them the card reader . Bc I don’t care for a top honestly the coffee is a lot of money LOL

As a barista I so agree. It’s awkward for us too but no one expects a tip so don’t feel guilty either! It’s more like a nice surprise when people do want to leave us something😊

Just add a card to your Starbucks app. They’ll just scan it. Plus you get 2x the points if you load a gift card

we literally don’t care if you tip or not. Your drink is going to be the same no matter what. It gives people w/o cash an option to tip. it adds a great supplement to hourly wages.

customers asked for it to be available via card bc people carry less cash now a days. so it’s giving you the option to add that onto the card—if it was after, then it would be 2 diff transactions.
