We have a law in Quebec 🇨🇦 that women keep their maiden name through marriage. You can of course use it socially but it is not changed legally to promote gender equality.

i called my court house today and was told it would be $400 to change my name! It costs nothing to change it when married but $400 to change it back! another boot on our necks. i regret changing

I’ve tried researching this. I saw proof of citizenship, yeah. But requirement to have last names matching from birth? Can’t find it.
