@missclairebenjamin: 🚨 Handling arrogant behaviour👇 When we’re managing someone with low emotional intelligence who also displays arrogant behaviour it can be really tough to navigate. You may find yourself stuck for words or losing control of the conversation. With someone displaying these behaviours there are 3 things I recommend: 1️⃣ Ask questions to encourage them to reflect. Ideally this is around something they care about like their reputation 2️⃣ Make them aware of the consequences At the end of the day we can’t force someone to change if they don’t want to. But by making them aware of consequences we leave them with the full picture to make a choice 3️⃣ Put the responsibility onto them Your responsibility as the manager is to increase their awareness and ensure they understand the consequences if they don’t adjust their behaviour Encouraging someone to reflect on how they could change their mindset can be helpful. For example: “How could you change your current mindset to ensure it doesn’t get in the way of you securing a promotion” 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised and will not fit every situation. There are different ways this situation could be approached so please use your own judgement and adapt it as you see fit. 💬 Have you ever been in this situation? I'd be more concerned about my "leadership team" being incapable of dealing with someone not talking to them nicely.

Keeping a straight face when you hear the term "Senior Leadership Team" is the biggest challenge.

Everybody at work should be treated with dignity and respect. There should be a policy in place specifying what this means. You do not have to like people at work but u should treat them appropriately

Leaders don’t have to care what people think. They need to lead. However, they should be able to be polite, listen and understand. But also be single minded.

The arrogant person is only arrogant when higher up is not around. They take in conversation when having 1 to 1s, but revert back to bad habits once left the room.

Giving respect to others, is not actually for them, its for oneself. Respect should therefore be given to those, who one knows, don't even deserve it.

The individual here has a point. The senior management aren't more inherently valuable than anyone else, paying them respect on the basis of a title is HR nonsense.

That is nuerodivergent honesty rather than arrogance. Especially if we have a PDA profile. Heirachies have no relevance and only there to stroke egos. Would rather get a better job at another company.

If senior leadership is disrespectful and talking down to their employees, I don’t think they have grounds to complain about how the employees speak to them.
