@kcalnews: A lawsuit filed against the Los Angeles Unified School District and Superintendent Alberto Carvalho Monday claims they defrauded taxpayers over millions of dollars in funding. The person spearheading the lawsuit: former LAUSD superintendent Austen Beutner. The legal action says Carvalho and the district have failed to properly use millions specifically set aside to "hire new art teachers” from its portion of $1 billion in funding provided by the passage of Proposition 28 in 2022. Tap the link in our bio to learn why LAUSD says questions over the allocation of funding are a “Misunderstanding of the law, or a disagreement with the stipulations of Prop. 28.”

They’ve actually fired arts teachers at my child’s school & used the money for workout equipment that no one sees. It’s a “performing arts” school with terrible sound equipment, old instruments 1/2

We used to have theatre, visual arts, and dance covered by the district at my title 1 elementary school in LAUSD. Now, we have visual arts, for only 6 weeks.
