This is usually a quick fix! What Can You Do at Home? If this just happened and the pain is really acute, be careful—aggressive stretching or digging into the knot can actually make it worse. Instead, try: ✅ Heat Therapy – Apply a warm compress or heating pad for 10-15 minutes to relax the muscles. ✅ Gentle Neck Movements – Slowly nod yes/no and do small, pain-free circles. Don’t force movement! ✅ Massage the Opposite Side – Sometimes, releasing the opposite side of your neck helps the painful side relax. ✅ Use a Supportive Pillow – Keep your neck neutral while resting to avoid aggravating the spasm. ✅ Magnesium or Epsom Salt Bath – Helps relax tight muscles and calm the nervous system. 🚫 What NOT to Do: ❌ Don’t forcefully stretch it—it might make the spasm worse. ❌ Avoid cracking or twisting your neck aggressively. ❌ Don’t sleep in a bad position again tonight—prop yourself up with good support!
