I’d say if the teacher is shouting to control the class then she isn’t a very good teacher.

I’ve been teaching for 20 years and the behaviour is getting worse every year. Allmost getting impossible without a raised voice and I never shout

Please just remember children's perception is often not accurate and the majority of teachers ALWAYS try their best.

Definitely talk to the school. It might be the case that the teacher has a booming voice and is not actually shouting at all.

You’re correct. ‘Shouty’ teachers don’t help children’s self-regulation & make those struggling with challenging behaviour worse - which affects the whole class.

I would clarify with the school what your daughter means by ‘shouting’. Quite often children say adults are ‘shouting’ when they are just using a firm tone, which is unfortunately sometimes needed.

I think you need to establish if the teacher IS actually shouting. They could just be projecting their voice or just have a naturally loud voice? I’d let the school deal with it tbh.

When I was at school, I had a teacher who would shout and be generally unkind. I was 6 years old and was crying before school every day. It was raised by many parents and she did not return p1/2

You shouldn’t have spoken to the teaching assistant about it. It’s got nothing to do with them and they don’t have the authority to question a teacher about shouting. You should speak to the teacher first, or if you feel uncomfortable doing that, speak to the headteacher. Hope you’ve managed to sort it out. Teaching is getting really tough. I’ve unfortunately had to shout more than I’d like to this year because of behaviour. It’s getting worse every year.

I hope you are right because that teacher will be devastated that a parent complained. It will certainly impact how she feels about you.

Are they really shouting? My whole class thought the new teacher next door shouted all day. He’s just loud. We stopped and listened to his tone, etc to realise they had nothing to fear.

Teach her resilience and specially it’s not. Directed at her. It could be also the change and even adults hate change. Talk to your child instead. You shout at home and the teacher is surrounding by 30 kids

Leave it with the school. It’s not on you to police how a teacher teaches with only your kids’ words. Let the head investigate it and take it from there. In all likelihood there’s more to it.

Go and speak to the teacher. I’m a teacher and if you spoke to the head teacher or TA without actually speaking to me first I feel that isn’t helpful!

Let the school speak to the teacher, see how things go and address again if no difference. Advise the head teacher you will be monitoring the situation after the teacher has been spoken to.

100% right if a teacher can’t control their anger/ temper they should be a teacher, as someone who was a child being screamed at by my teacher (in year 3) and my own mum stepping in and telling her it is unacceptable, advocating for your daughter is a must and she’ll only be happier for it ❤️❤️

Speak to the teacher and just explain your daughter is unsettled, teaching is such a hard job and also it’s such a big thing when they change over teachers especially at such a young age.

100% your in the Right to pursue support from School! There are some Teachers whose Persona, Approach & Ineffective habits make them more Reactive to Verbally shout & escalate due to attempting to discipline but also the same or other teachers can have Presenting issues where when they are delivering the Class topic & instructions etc.. they are "Shouting" loud thats jarring & actually can be hard to focus, hear & nergous system is dyregulated! The 2nd example I witnessed whilst on a School Work placement as a Class assistant.. And I am not joking some days if I was in certain teachers classes I would leave with a banging Headache or Migraine & I was a young adult!
