@toonmechanic: Rotary engines, also known as Wankel engines, are internal combustion engines that use a triangular rotor instead of pistons. This design allows for smoother operation, fewer moving parts, and higher RPMs. They're compact, lightweight, and efficient but face challenges like higher emissions and limited fuel economy compared to conventional engines. if there's one thing I've learned from your account it's that fuel economy and emissions are always taking cool things from us

what about a hybrid car, with a rotary engine for high rpm and an electric one for low speed, does that exist?

Mazda still makes and uses rotary engines, even though for newer vehicles its used only to charge the battery for the vehicle. Basically fully electric. Motor only turns on when battery needs charging

The only Mazda to have a reliable rotary engine is the Mazda 787B which used ceramic apex seals which are VERY hard and thus doesn’t wear as easily, it used viscous oil at 10W-30 and was detuned asw

Reliability of a rotary relies almost entirely on who owns them, I’ve never had issues with mine

usualy the problem with rotary engines the fact that it isnt unreliable the problem is the people that drive them. if droven proprely and maintained it is a very good engine
