When you look at a volume pot, you will often see one of the lugs bent back and soldered to the casing. While that is all fine, I just wanted to share a quick tip on how I do my volume grounds. Many people will save the offcuts from their capacitors, but you can also buy an inexpensive roll of solid core wire for this. I strip back the wire and use it as a bridge for the ground. I find this to be a lot cleaner, and it also minimizes the risk of damaging or breaking the lug. I use alligator clips to hold the wire in place so that it isn't moving around while I solder it to the pot casing This method also allows me to repurpose pots if I ever need to without a lot of hassle. Just as easily as I added the ground, I can remove it and use this as a tone pot It is also helpful to add solder to the casing before soldering the wire.
