@kcalnews: California Gov. Gavin Newsom joined other state and federal officials to announce the start of a massive debris removal operation from the Eaton and Palisades wildfires. The announcement came just 35 days after the onset of the fires, which Newsom called "unprecedented" and about half the time it took to start similar work from the 2018 Woolsey Fire. The work would be conducted by contractors with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at no cost to property owners, but insurance companies would be billed as applicable.
