Psalm 35 Insights A Psalm proclaiming greatness of God as advocate for the believer facing persecution. This Psalm highlights a very important benefit of the Christian faith- salvation This gives the believer a direct access to the throne of grace to God, in prayers through Jesus Christ-the High Priest,advocate and judge. A win- win situation for all believers. The Psalmist clearly demonstrated a revelatory insight of Jesus Christ, even before earthly sojourn. This Psalm directs the believer to seek God in prayers . God pleads cause and fights for the believer. God stands up to help the believer,and stops persecutors. God is salvation for the believer.(v1-2) God as Jehovah Sabaoth fights for the believer with spiritual weapons of his armory, which are of infinite strength and power- shield and buckler-( v2.); the spear (v3.) When God fights for a righteous believer, victory is assured- persecutors are confounded, put to shame, and turned back. (v.4). Adversaries become like chaff before the wind,and blown away.(v5) .Angel of God chases adversaries, as their ways become dark and slippery, and they face persecution by angel of God. Persecutors setting traps for the innocent gets scattering outcome- destruction- as they fall in the net set for the innocent. (v.8).The believer will rejoice in the salvation of Lord Jesus- who delivers from the hands of the strong and mighty.(v10). False witnesses (v11) and soul spoilers will rise up against the righteous, and be put to shame when God pleads cause of the believer. (v11-12). The Psalmist encouraged the believer to add fasting and humility to his prayers to overcome challenges.(v13).Periodic fasting is encouraged in Christian faith to overcome seemingly intractable challenges. The believer eventually rejoices over mockers by thanksgiving and praises .(v17-18). God never keeps silent and is awake to judgement for the faithful.(v23). God judges according to righteousness.(v24.) God is magnified when the faithful receives the positive outcomes and rejoices in praises and thanksgiving.( v26-28). Application 1. God is the most powerful and efficient resort for the Christian faithful. God pleads the cause of the believer. 2. God fights for the believer using infinite weaponry in his armory, and through his innumerable angels, as Jehovah Sabaoth. 3. God judges righteously and equitably. In the context of future prophesies and return of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is revealed that end time mysteries will be governed by Jesus Christ, with Jehovah Tsidkenu attributes- Lord of judgement,justice,equity,righteousness and truth. A Lordship to reign on earth and balance all equities!!! 4. The believer must be mindful that for God to plead and fight on his/ her behalf,holiness and righteous living is mandatory. Repentance from known sins,constant Holy Bible study and meditations, fasting, prayers, praises and thanksgiving are all important.
