they make water proof back pack covers. My husband keeps one in his pack when hiking. I am pretty sure it would fit over your back rest. I folds up tiny, could store it in your door of the truck

The hook that the crane hooks onto that’s on the wheelchair is that an extra seat that’s on top. I noticed my wheelchair does not have like a plastic hard piece under my cushion seat.
