I have found that buying a nice vintage peice is only slightly more expensive then something new from cb2/crate and barrel etc and WAY better quality/ longevity/ character.

The waste conversation never makes sense to me because sure it was real wood, but it lasted FOREVER. Now they’re using god knows what materials and pushing astronomical amounts of product out.

North Carolina- they collapsed the market and this was where the majority of solid wood furniture was made.

Yes I keep seeing “100% wood” but it’s Acadia, mdf, and veneer. 🙄

You can still buy solid wood furniture, you just have to pay a real price for it that accounts for the labour and. materials. My solid wood bed cost about £1k and my 5ft high drawers cost £800

After having to clear my elderly parents home for a move, us kids don’t always want their antique furniture. It is a hassle to rehome it to others.

I think housing affordability plays a huge role in this too. People used to get married, buy a house right at the beginning of adulthood, & stay 5+ years. Now, many young adults have to move every yr

Absolutely love this! I plan to buy a home next year and we are basically going to start over with all of our furniture (minus our bed, I love it, it’s going nowhere!) I will look for your furniture!
