Never had a problem with starting diesel, even in -25°C and they were 1.9TDI, 2.0TDI, 2.5TDI, 3.0TDI, 3.2TDI

DO NOT LET ANY ENGINE WARM BY IDLE. it destroys the engine more than driving lightly dont go full but drive and then it will heat faster.

It's all about maintenance. Fresh oil before the winter starts. Charging the battery every two weeks. Not that hard.
