All month long, we’ll highlight some of the brightest stars who have graced our stage, and have set/broke records in the last 50 years. Melba Moore originated Dionne in Hair (1968), where her soulful, captivating performance of “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In” stopped the show. She followed this with a Tony-winning run as Lutiebelle in Purlie (1970) and later become the 1st Black actress to play Fantine in Les Misérables (1995).
