@ashleyjames: “I have so much love but no one to give it to” 💔🥹 That was my mantra for years as I entered yet another Valentine’s Day single. There was definitely more than one Valentine’s Day that I’d be seeing a guy and I’d wait the entire day for him to ask me out or message me - more than one time that I’d not from them at all - and more than one time that I’d pretend everything was totally cool the next day when they reached out because I didn’t want to be “too keen”. LADIES: I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it is not too keen to expect a text message. It’s not too keen to expect the guy you’re dating to ask you out on Valentine’s Day. It’s not too keen if you tell him that you’re disappointed in his lack of contact and communication on the day - it’s called setting boundaries and I wish someone had taught me that when I was younger instead of my mind being filled with this “don’t be too keen” bullsh*t. Anyway, I just wanted to say for anyone who feels sh*t around Valentine’s Day - whether you’re single or going through a break up - DO NOT LET THIS DAY TAKE AWAY YOUR JOY AND POWER. There is so much love out there that isn’t romantic love! I met most of my current girlfriends in my 30s - when I started doing my galentine dinner parties loads of my friends were in relationships and only wanted to hang out when their partners were away or out with their friends (lol) so I went out and met new friends through taking up hobbies. I invited women I loved and admired from the industry! I also want to say that the biggest lesson I learned that helped me find single joy was to remember that being lonely and being alone are two very different things. Remember there are lots of unhappy relationships! There’ll be lots of people posting their Valentine’s Days who do not have happy relationships- so do not let yourself compare. ❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day ladies - remember you deserve the whole entire world.
