Most cars are leased these days, so no one really gives a toss.

You can drive immediately after starting it on a cold morning, as long as you drive gently for the first few minutes to allow the engine to warm up properly ygm

Absolutely wrong,
1. Start the car
2. Put seatbelt on
3. Drive normal

Wrong the service manual says drive immediately, the oil won’t circulate around the engine otherwise. Just don’t race the engine until it’s warmed up properly.

‘cold friction that can damage the gearbox’. The gearbox is going to warm up better when the car is actually in gear and driving, rather than just sitting there in neutral 🤦🏻♂️

This is not correct. With modern engines, it takes about 6 seconds for the oil to get around - no need to idle your engine. it's just noise for no reason.

"transmission" 🤔. You could start it and leave it running for 30 mins and the oil in the transmission will still be cold. Engine oil is what you're talking about.

Wrong. You should start the car. Wait about 10sec for oil to circulate then drive SLOWLY (low RPM speeds) until the engine warms up to operating temps. Thereafter like normal.
