@willfrancis24: How have I only just discovered this Apple concept video? 🤯 'Knowledge Navigator' - a concept video from the Apple team in 1987 shows an AI agent running on a tablet - years before Siri, consumer artificial intelligence or the iPad existed. It was devised by John Sculley, Apple’s then-CEO, as part of his Knowledge Navigator vision. In the video, a professor interacts with an AI assistant that understands natural language, retrieves information instantly, and even schedules meetings. It’s eerily close to how we use AI tools today, from ChatGPT to voice assistants. What’s crazy is how long it took for reality to catch up. The ideas were there, but the tech wasn’t. Now, we’re living in the era that Knowledge Navigator predicted. #apple #Tech #technology #siri #aiagent #chatgpt #siri #futuretech

I love old future visions where they envision screens being hidden away. Almost like having permanent screens around you is a bad thing.

Crazy. I wonder, though, if it was SUCH a boring presentation that it set back AI by a few decades (lol).

Vision and narrative are the bedrocks for innovation. Gene Roddenberry is a great example of that.

Love your content, Will. What video software do you use to lay out the 1/3 x 2/3 screens, with you on the top and your screen share on the bottom?

This kind of vision is not (or not just) about getting it right, this also has a lot of impact on direction. This video really sold the idea that there was a place for voice => Siri => AI convos.

I think of this often. They had a vision, no idea how to accomplish it, but they kept at it and the iPhone 3 was born

If you read science fiction, people already figured out most of these before apple. Arthur c Clark even conceived geostationary orbit and a global communications array in 1945. Sounds familiar?
