@misslaurahayes: I had no intention of making a short film to enter into a film festival. I had experienced, (after becoming so impassioned with computer technology)my first “black screen of death”. The computer wouldn’t come on and I tried everything I could think of, called as many tech-supports as I could And before I knew it, I was so upset at the thought of losing the computer I started getting emotional then I started laughing that I was getting emotional. My hi8 camera was sitting on the kitchen table and I threw my jail blanket over my shoulders picked up the camera and filmed myself reacting as if I had lost my best friend. It was just one take and when I got done I laughed so hard. I showed it to a friend who encouraged me to enter it into NBC Short Cut Film Festival and surprisingly I won two of the three prizes awarded, wow that was such a surreal experience.
