Our induction and birth story - starting with a chilled morning walk and breakfast before heading to the hospital. I was induced at 39 weeks due to concerns of baby’s size. It was a long process from Friday afternoon and all through Saturday, where I was getting contractions on and off but nothing major, but then it all happened so quickly Saturday night! I was in a lot of pain but handling it quite well, they said it was time to go to the labour ward, so I asked for a wheelchair as I didn’t think I could walk but they said “it’s only early stages, you need to keep active”. I kept stopping in pain on the way round, gripping onto the walls, feeling like I needed to push. When I got there they were telling me not to push but I couldn’t help it. But then the baby’s heart rate was dropping loads, so they checked and were surprised I was 10cm, so then they were urging me to push, saying we need to get him out now because of his heart rate. So he was out near enough as soon as I got to the labour ward, within 13 minutes according to my paperwork, the midwife said it was her quickest ever delivery from arrival at labour ward! He had the cord wrapped around his neck when he came out and because of the dropped heart rate, I was so focused on whether he was ok (he was thankfully) that I didn’t realise I was bleeding heavily. The midwife stitched a tear but the blood kept coming and she didn’t know where from, so she pressed the buzzer and 4 other people were there in seconds, all doing checks on me, suspecting blood hemorrhage from the bladder. Thankfully this wasn’t the case and they found the cause of the bleeding which was internal and stitched by a surgeon, but I’d lost 800ml of blood. Such a rollercoaster of a birth experience, but so thankful for our precious little Roman 💙 #fyp #newmum #birthstory #induction #babyboy #thankfulforyou
