I made a video telling people to read about their politic and someone commented, “as if reading will stop Elon musk.” It’s a finished society atp.

The schools of political/social sciences, language/philosophy and science were always at the forefront of most student movements in my uni in MX. Unsupisingly

The RCA (US section of the RCI) requires members to read theory and participate in activities, otherwise they aren't considered members. So, we have a couple hundred comrades there that do read and go

i feel like i should be making theory more digestible. i was a philosophy major with a concentration in ethics. i read this stuff as apart of my education

I agree. I also think too much liberation discourse is couched in theory as if you’re not qualified or able to understand liberation if you haven’t read the theory. And there can be elitism to that

I took one class on labor and social transformation during and after reconstruction, and immediately added Anthropology as my 2nd major. I've done nothing but read since.

Yes. I get dogpiled all the time because I saw that reading theory is essential. It’s like feeling that the sun is hot without learning why the sun is hot. You’re much more likely to be led astray.

I've had difficulty focusing for several years and reading isn't as easy as it would have been in my 20s or 30s. I don't go out in public either. It's 1pm, I can't even get out of bed

I think it’s more about learning about social movements in general. You’re basically saying we’re doomed bc our literacy.

for instance, and u may hate me for saying this, but communism has been sooooo mass murderous & harmful & yet ppl want to deny this bc of theory, or else will say it’s all “western propaganda”.
