Serverless is fine for very simple things that almost nobody use. If it gets complex, you lose any kind of overview. If it gets popular, the price skyrockets.

Serverless doesn't make sense for most enterprises since web, databases, apps are mostly infrastructure that doesn't change much overtime. If you're Netflix or Coca Cola yes it makes sense.

Serverless is great for low traffic

My biggest problem with serverless is the lack of per-node concurrency. Each box can only process 1 request at once, even if it's just waiting on IO 99% of the time. (1/2)

I’m surprise so many people are against serverless. Feels like folks haven’t really looked at in a while.

it gets really expensive. Under the hood, serverless still uses servers, so you pay for using what a cloud has set up

Ohhhh so this is what serverless people are on about. Had heard the term but had no idea how you were supposed to deploy AD or VDI or any applications. Cool. Not really for enterprise stuff but neat.

GM repatriated back to on prem. And you can do server less on prem. Cloud is kind of a scam for 80% of solutions.

Serverless charges you for bandwith / flops.

if you have high traffic its cheaper to have a servers. unless you need to spend money for tax purposes 😂

I agree that it is easier to manage but you also lose that "control" too. for instance finding out process bottlenecks or long running issues. also vendor lock on the other side code to prod is rapid.

BSV is hosted on AWS (for now). Leave the Sys Admin to BSV - Use BSV for speed and Big blocks.

Lots of comments here are 100% right about scaling becoming expensive. Need more replies from people who know that setting up serverless can be cheap when configured correctly & with anomaly alarms

I need people to understand, there's no such thing as a serverless server. You are merely renting a server from someone else

serverless functions are limited and more expensive than classic servers. Yes theyre easy to setup but you pay a premium in the long run. typical over hyped crap

This is cool and all, but you’ll never catch me using this nightmarish infrastructure. Now exfil the data collected by those scripts to a backup location. Oh wait… now a server comes into play.
