they do eat battery's. I have so far liked the rechargeable 9v. that's a good idea though but I'd hate not being able to use the stock cover

i had the same issue and asked my rep about it. if you read through the manual it calls to only use lithium 9v batteries in it. I’ve changed over to those and 1 battery has lasted over 2 months so far
