In the Caribbean we do something similar but with Cassava, mixed with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg etc. its a dessert.

the thing is if you wanna make it like the inventor of the rösti, you need to cook the potatoes first. 1000 times better.

I've been doing this for over a decade, but instead of adding fat to the potatoes I add the potatoes to a cast iron pan that has bacon grease in it. It's always a hit!
