A little bit of a vulnerable post from us 🤍 I’ve come on leaps and bounds with my Dutch, but I still have a long way to go, especially when it comes to confidence. Why is it so much harder to speak a language than it is to understand it? Sometimes I get so in my own head that I convince myself I’m going to sound silly, say everything wrong, or that I’m simply not good enough. This phone call didn’t go the way I hoped, and yes… I cried afterwards 🥲 but I wanted to share this because I know I’m not the only one who feels like this. Learning a new language is exciting, but it’s also frustrating, overwhelming, and incredibly humbling. There are days when you feel like you’re making amazing progress, and days when it feels like you’ve forgotten everything. I guess the only way to become confident is to keep speaking, keep making mistakes, and keep showing up anyway. So here’s to getting uncomfortable, celebrating the small wins, and reminding ourselves that nobody becomes fluent without sounding like a beginner first❤️ If you’re learning a new language too, I’d love to know… what’s been the hardest part for you?
